Confinement Lady

Review of my confinement lady from Kulai, Malaysia

=)
  1. cooks well - knows all the confinement food, cook according to your taste -not too salty
  2. clean up the kitchen properly - mop the kitchen after cooking
  3. sweep and mop the floor ever alternate days
  4. able to soothe the baby to sleep; understand baby's temperament fast
  5. watch tv for 1-2 hours at night and then sleep around 8:30/9:00 pm after the night feed
  6. able to warm up EBM in advance to prevent baby from crying loudly for milk during wee hours
=(
  1.  use up lots of oil - realise the internal hood is very oily after she left when mu hubby found some oil dripping from top (but then again, i didn't think the food is super oily...i wonder how on earth the oil ends up there ??)
  2. not very "auto" after a while - i have to bring my empty container for her so that she can refill the water for me; only "auto" after 2 weeks
  3. always rush baby to drink faster and I have to monitor sometimes
  4. took 2 hours off on the 2nd last day to have lunch with her sister who stays nearby
  5. always "hint hint" her children need money la, husband not earning much, etc etc
  6. use washing machine - even if the load is very little
  7. not very supportive of breastfeeding /EBM until i speak to her on the benefits
All in all, she is ok, not absolutely fantastic but at least she fulfills her duties. Then again, she was engaged last minute (friend's friend's confinement lady's friend - not the original person intended as she is fully booked and then she refers her friend) and I did not brief her properly in the beginning so some things are taken for granted.

Details:
Duration: 28 days: 14 Dec 2011 to 10 Jan 2012
Charges: SGD 2200 (due to short notice; orginally was SGD 1900-2000)
Opening ang bao- compulsory: $18 (usually range from $18-$38)
New Year (1st Jan 2012): $8 (decided to give as a "heng heng" kai1 gong1 for her)
Closing ang bao - compulsory: $88 (depending on performance; usually range from $18-$100; wanted to give $18 at first but take into account that she also cooks for my mother who comes almost everyday and cooks on demand - whoever comes and wants to eat - we just "give it to her" #)

# if we had discovered about the kitchen hood problem, I would have reduced to probably $28 for her closing ang bao =\
