Muffin Gal and Boy

Last week doing Chocolate Chips muffins:

This week doing blue berry muffins:

Thanks to Betty Crocker Muffin Mixes, else I would probably have a harder time. Anyway, baking muffins not only act as a time-filler and quick distraction technique but also introduce concepts of baking like how and why the mix rises and temperature that goes beyond 100 degrees celsius. Actually, the interest and idea is sparked off from the "Have you seen the Muffin Man?" song that she saw in the video.

Not sure whether she really listens but she was quite intrigued when she saw the mix rise...haha..something magical for her. Her waiting-in-anticipation look amuses me. It's a pity little bro missed out the action as that was done during his nap time (and that's the reason why she needs to be distracted....haa..)

Bubber

This is a good alternative to the dough (which was disastrous, but we had good fun!) that we make, so she is having fun making the alphabet mould. I am glad that she is still not tired of bubber after so many months. Keeping it away from her eyes do help! =)

The 2nd one with palms ...well it's pretty obvious who's the creator. hee...

yeay! I got my palms printed on my book!

at courtyard green - aMaze Me!

It was quite hot so yx just stood beside me and watch other children in the maze.

Goodbye Octoburst2014 !

Does it look like bones to you? According to her, they are like dog bones.
But to me they look more like weights. LOL.

Hello Snail!

from her art class (trial lesson)
Seeing the real stuff in action!

Getting ready to climb the wall
So after her trial art class, I took her to observe the snail in greater detail. Not that she hasn't seen snail before but I thought it would be interesting to see how she react and observe snails after her class. She was looking at the snail so intently that she doesn't want to go until daddy came over. How I wish yr was also with us when we saw the snail.

Fire Station Visit @ Bishan Fire Station Open House

Thanks to a mummy - Amanda who took the initiative to organise a trip for the toddlers at the Bishan Fire Station Open House 2 weeks ago. It was quite an eye-opener not only for the kids but also for the adults as most of us never been to a fire station before.

At the end of the whole tour, it ended with a demonstration on how the fire fighters respond when the siren sound to alert all.

Hello Mr Spider!

Hi are you scared of me?
This photo looks quite faint as it was taken against a white background and that the spider's legs are really fine - almost a camouflage if not for the body. I quickly took the opportunity to show the real spider and the web to yx and get her to count the number of legs. Instead of getting excited, she curled up and refused to see it. I don't know why she felt so afraid all of the sudden and thus I took a photo of it to show her. I think this is also partly my fault as I shrieked when I saw a really black spider at the corner of her cupboard in her few months ago. Although I regained my composure quickly, I bet it must have some impact on her that spiders are some scary creeping crawlies.lol. Haha..so much of singing the Insy Wincy Spider Song and now she is afraid of spiders. I will try to involve her again if I were to see spiders again in da house but probably get her little bro on board first. Maybe that would do the trick.

On a side note, why are there spiders in the house??!!! @_@

Lantern Festival

Materials:

  1. Toilet rolls
  2. Scissors
  3. White glue
  4. Coloured paper
  5. Ribbon

Yes, it' time for art and craft for mummy and yx so that yx can bring the lantern to school as part of the lantern festival celebrations. However, we have to use recycled materials and I didn't want to do the usual lanterns using recycled paper. Then I remembered that I had kept quite a number of toilet paper rolls last time as I knew that it will come in handy someday for art and craft. And so I came across this DIY toilet paper roll wall art while searching online for some ideas. Thus, I improvised the idea and make it stacked to a height of 6 (or 2 sets of 3 "leaves") and we used a total of 72 "leaves" from 18 toilet rolls.

Since yx love blue so much, she gets her blue flowers and orange seems to be the best contrast since we don't have enough pink or red coloured paper. So I did the structure setting while yx had fun pasting the flowers. There was actually a ribbon attached to the lantern but this photo was taken before the attachment and it came off when yx brought back from childcare. hee...

Well, it didn't came out as pretty as I imagined it to me, but still we had a great time, though it was pretty time consuming with the flower craft punch and all the pasting!
