Pregnancy Skin Care

With reference to this, I must say I am quite lucky cos I don't see any stretch marks except for those that were already pre-existing around my hips area. I only just started applying cream about 2 weeks ago (yes, been lazy, tired, lazy, tired ....) I hope I don't develop more stretch marks after giving birth to snakey junior.

Due to my sensitive nose now and to curb vomiting initially, I use the following for stretch marks:

  1. Clarins Stretch Mark Control - I prefer this to Clarins Body Treatment Oil as its fragrance is quite mild and less greasy.
  2. The Body Shop's Cocoa Shea Butter - back thighs and buttocks as I can't really take its cocoa fragrance.
  3. Elancyl Stretch Mark prevention - alternate with no.2 for the same reason.

As for the usual cleansing routine, I use the following:

  1. Cetaphil - as face cleanser and body wash
  2. Dr. Woods, Shea Vision, Baby Mild Castile Soap, Unscented - as shampoo, though can be quite drying, so I use a little (but I have now try to alternate with Johnson's no tears). I couldn't find any unscented shampoo off the shelves, and I can't even use Johnson's no tears in the initial stage when I could as compared to my previous pregnancy. Although it was stated "unscented", there was a very mild scent. Fortunately, it was still bearable.
I only started putting on eye cream and face serum around the 4th month. Urgh....what to do? How I wish the come up with the real fragrance-free skin care for pregnant women. Clinique's fragrance-free is just the best bet as I can still smell my eye cream when I tried it during my 3rd month of pregnancy. Guess what? I can even smell a strong rice wine scent when I use SK-II facial treatment essence initially and I nearly puke! I doubt if anyone would have the same bad experiences as I did.

Anyhow, I don't have time and energy for all the skin care routine, just taking care of the essentials for the time being. =\ I wonder how some mummies can still do full make up, with mascara, eye liner etc. Really salute them....

It's a BOY !

So after having a girl, it's natural that I would like to have a boy. As the Chinese saying goes, a girl and a boy makes everything wonderful -  Then again, whichever gender, the most important thing is health and happiness, nothing beats that.

My younger brother and myself are 5 years apart and I remember taking care of my bro at the age of 5. The most disgusting thing was to eat his cerelac full of his saliva (luckily not cleaning his poo) when my mum gave it to me (taste yucky to me at that time!) and told me not to waste food when my bro refused to eat. He loved crying and stamped his feet when things didn't get his way. But he was extremely cute and bubbly when he was happy. Those were the days.

It's kindda deja vu for me when I try to imagine how yx react to his younger bro. Though the age gap is only 2 years (technically is approximately 18 months), I hope yx will be able to undertake her role as an elder sister. I guess with the close age gap, they should be able to share lots of idiosyncrasies as they grow up together, not to mention sharing tips about boy-girl-relationship, ha!

Daddy 1st remark was, "oh yes! we can par game together next time." How about watching soccer together too? Oh well, boys. To me, it's a balancing act - very good, 很好.

Cravings for Western food

Fish & Co: Chicken with fish + sweet chilli sauce!
Nowadays I am eating more and more western food, we wonder our baby is really jiak kantang (more westernised). ?_?

Bus adventure with yx, the explorer

eh, I can see my own reflection & people outside!

Climbing is my forte. I love climbing up & down!

She loves to explore what's on the bus - the texture of the seats, handles, adverts on the handles, the aircon, reflections, lights - on and off, the colours, etc. It's really amazing to see that she is pondering about things and discovering anything, everything that we just take for granted or we just don't really notice. If only I could see from her perspective too!

One thing is she has yet to discover is the button for pressing the bell ... else I bet the bus driver will either be very amused or extremely mad - which I think the latter makes more sense. =|

Fever. Heat Rash

When: Sunday 6 Jan

Cause: Most likely from the hot weather on Sat when she attended her cousin's outdoor birthday bash, else it would be the air-conditioning (the heat was quite unbearable and after coming back from the party, she slept without her pants on (silly me and daddy!!-ok it was daddy's fault who on the air-con without cooling her down, but I should also have checked. urgh.))

Symptoms: Fever, followed by some red/pinkish spots on her back, thighs and face. (didn't even have a chance to take pictures of the rashes as I was just too worried.)

I think this is 2nd time that she had fever. The first one I remembered was from one of the injections but that went off quickly. This time, it was very different. The fever went on and off. At first we thought it was HFMD but then again, after monitoring, it doesn't look like it. mil boiled barley water for her to drink and it works - only for a few hours and then her temperature shot up again to 38.4! We decided to bring to her to the doc in the evening the next day as her rashes didn't fully subside.

Medicine: antibiotics (3ml to be taken 3 times a day consecutively for 5 days only), liquid panadol (3ml-only when there is a fever), and a bottle of syrup for rashes (taken only when there are rashes).

We are glad that she was well again after taking the antibiotics. Then again, she doesn't look sick at all as she was still quite active, except for her initial crying and fussing due to the itchiness of the rashes. Anyway, lesson learnt for us!!
