yx's 1st Dental Examination

Brought yx to see dentist at National Dental Centre today. She has 11 (+1 emerging) teeth now!

Thanks to mummies in the forum, I got to know that there is a dental studies for infants and toddlers and by going through this study, we are able to receive free dental consultation and examination for a period of 2 years. However, in event that there is a need for further recommended treatment, you will have to pay.

We learnt that:

  1. it's good to have gaps between the teeth now so that there will be less "congestion" when other teeth grow.
  2. brush, wipe, or feed her water, for the last feed of milk before bed to reduce the milk residue to prevent tooth decay.

We have been wiping her gums, teeth and tongue every morning and night during bath time since day 1 so we are quite surprised to learn that we also need to clean after the last feed of milk (and that's like midnight or after midnight!) This study is conducted because they see an increasing trend of infants who suffered from tooth decay. It was quite shocking as we don't seem to find or hear of any case around us. I remembered it was compulsory to brush teeth after recess time when I was primary one. We were given tumbler, toothbrush and toothpaste by the school and we learnt the techniques of brushing teeth. Prior to that, I learnt to brush my teeth when I attended nursery. That was it. My mum couldn't recall if she clean my teeth when I was an infant. I wonder if those tooth decay cases during our times went unreported or the food we ate today contains more sugary stuff ?

Anyhow, I am quite particular in giving yx candies and cakes. Hopefully that helps.

IF-THEN-ELSE ?

How I wish life is so simple as if-then-else. Sure, there can be complex if-then-else. But how complicated those can be since the conditions are definite and possible impacts are excluded?

Pretty Tulips ...

Perhaps he sees me so 辛苦, so decided to perk me up with this:

Last year's was a pleasant surprise;
This year yet again. Thanks dear...
I wonder if he will just pop a bouquet to me just one day out of the blue, instead of just this day.... hmm. Then again, I am happy if he gives me any practical gifts, not just flowers, with some special touch.

Eating apple II

I don't care, I love eating apple in my room.
Now she can bite off the apple in small bits as compared to the last time, but she just don't want to chew the bits, instead she sticks them out. To make things worse, she wants to eat it in the room. ={

I don't wanna wear this dress!

Please take off this dress for me!
She received this dress as pressie when she was 1 month old, so now it's a good age for her to try on the dress to go for an early reunion dinner at my mum's place but she was so worked up that my mil's helper has to give her an apple to pacify her before she was changed to another outfit. Ggrrr...

Pregnancy Skin Care

With reference to this, I must say I am quite lucky cos I don't see any stretch marks except for those that were already pre-existing around my hips area. I only just started applying cream about 2 weeks ago (yes, been lazy, tired, lazy, tired ....) I hope I don't develop more stretch marks after giving birth to snakey junior.

Due to my sensitive nose now and to curb vomiting initially, I use the following for stretch marks:

  1. Clarins Stretch Mark Control - I prefer this to Clarins Body Treatment Oil as its fragrance is quite mild and less greasy.
  2. The Body Shop's Cocoa Shea Butter - back thighs and buttocks as I can't really take its cocoa fragrance.
  3. Elancyl Stretch Mark prevention - alternate with no.2 for the same reason.

As for the usual cleansing routine, I use the following:

  1. Cetaphil - as face cleanser and body wash
  2. Dr. Woods, Shea Vision, Baby Mild Castile Soap, Unscented - as shampoo, though can be quite drying, so I use a little (but I have now try to alternate with Johnson's no tears). I couldn't find any unscented shampoo off the shelves, and I can't even use Johnson's no tears in the initial stage when I could as compared to my previous pregnancy. Although it was stated "unscented", there was a very mild scent. Fortunately, it was still bearable.
I only started putting on eye cream and face serum around the 4th month. Urgh....what to do? How I wish the come up with the real fragrance-free skin care for pregnant women. Clinique's fragrance-free is just the best bet as I can still smell my eye cream when I tried it during my 3rd month of pregnancy. Guess what? I can even smell a strong rice wine scent when I use SK-II facial treatment essence initially and I nearly puke! I doubt if anyone would have the same bad experiences as I did.

Anyhow, I don't have time and energy for all the skin care routine, just taking care of the essentials for the time being. =\ I wonder how some mummies can still do full make up, with mascara, eye liner etc. Really salute them....
